Raised on the Atlantic Coast of South Georgia, Brenna has called Starkville, Mississippi, home since 2019. A proud graduate of Mississippi State University, Brenna earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching in 2024 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience with a concentration in Professional Meteorology in 2021. With deep family ties to Mississippi – Brenna’s father graduated from Mississippi State, and her mother from the Mississippi University for Women – Brenna has built a strong support system rooted in the community of Starkville and the Magnolia State.

Currently serving as a high school science teacher at Starkville High School, Brenna teaches AP Computer Science Principles and Physical Science, bringing a passion for education and innovation to the classroom. Previously, she worked in both university and public recreation. During this time, Brenna discovered how recreation could bridge education and public service, deepening her passion for creating opportunities that improve the lives of others. Knowing early on that her career would center on public service, she has continued to focus on roles that make a tangible difference in her community.

Throughout her career, Brenna has demonstrated a commitment to leadership and service. During her undergraduate years, she was politically active on Mississippi State University’s campus and served as president of the East Mississippi Chapter of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. She is also an active member of the W5YD Amateur Radio Club and is active in the Golden Triangle area, further showcasing her dedication to community engagement and connectivity. These experiences have helped shape Brenna’s dedication to fostering growth, collaboration, and innovation in Starkville.

Inspired to serve the City of Starkville, Brenna is focused on three pillars: Educate, Elevate, and Grow. Her vision includes supporting Starkville’s high-achieving school district, improving infrastructure to make the city more accessible and connected, and addressing the needs of underserved communities. Brenna is determined to lead with heart to create a more inclusive, thriving city for all residents.
